is for Annie Belle

Annie Belle is the 10 month old rescue Airedale that arrived at Airedale Acres in Palm City, Florida, bearing an infected bullet hole in her side.

Lil Orphan Annie

A quick trip to the vet took care of that wound, but giving her the confidence that she would no longer have to fear people would take a little longer.  That confidence began to build as she realized that being in Airedale rescue meant the start of a new and safe life. Life was fun with Sally and the other Airedales at Airedale Acres, and a special bond grew with the first human she knew she could trust. Soon she began to enjoy special outings with Bobbi and Richard, her soon-to-be new adoptive family.  Trust was building and her Airedale personality sprung forth.  At that time, Bobbi also had a senior Airedale, Teddi, who was dealing with a life-ending disease, so the decision was made to allow Annie Belle to reside at Airedale Acres until it was felt she was ready to join her new adoptive family on a full time basis.  Fears of it being too much for senior AireGirl Teddi to deal with this young and boisterous AireGirl Annie Belle were quickly dispelled as we watched Teddi and Annie Belle bond, with Annie Belle being very respectful of her new senior Airedale friend, Teddie.  It is simply amazing to watch the respect a young ‘dale will exhibit for a senior ‘dale.  Enjoying life in her new adoptive home with Bobbi and Richard, Annie Belle forgot the horrors of her early beginnings and developed the full confidence of an adult Airedale.
She is living the life that every Airedale should have. Annie Belle is enjoying her senior years.  At age 11.5 years, she enjoys a life far removed from those early days of being shut out of the family home, where she had to dodge bullets!  Now Annie also enjoys having two “mothers” who love her.  Several years ago, Sally moved to another state, and now visits Bobbi occasionally.

These visits prove exciting for
Annie Belle.  Always faithful to her full time “mother”, Bobbi, when Sally visits, Annie Belle quickly shares her “mother love” to two humans.  To see Sally arriving, Annie Belle becomes madly excited and Sally has to hurry to sit down before she is knocked down with Annie’s happiness at seeing her other “mother”.
We don’t know if it’s true that elephants never forget, but we do know that Airedales never forget people they love.  They never forget the Airedale rescue volunteer that cares for them when they arrive in Airedale Rescue.  Annie has a wonderful life with her adopted family, and lives with complete confidence.  She adores her adoptive “mother”, and is totally true and respectful to her.  However, when that other “mother” arrives, the memories of those early days in Airedale rescue bring back thoughts of love and devotion to that rescue volunteer who gave her very first memories of landing in safe harbor:  Airedale Rescue.  Suddenly she is a pup again, recalling those days of living at Airedale Acres with Sally.  Airedales never forget.  They are forgiving for the hardships they’ve endured, and always remember the rescue volunteers that changed their lives.
